Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB)

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is the level at which you run improvement projects with data and statistics, finding the real causes of a process problem and keeping the fix in place. This IASSC exam preparation programme covers the five DMAIC phases in 60 hours over 10 weeks, in class in Cairo, live online, or in-house for your team.
A thorough treatment of Lean Six Sigma covering the core competencies expected of a Green Belt, to the Evaluate cognitive level. Tools are practised in class, and a comprehensive manual is provided to prepare for the exam.

Why data-driven process improvement matters

A process problem fixed on instinct often returns with the next complaint. A Green Belt measures before acting: checks that the measurement system can be trusted, establishes process capability, tests hypotheses about what drives the output, and then hands the process owner a control plan backed by control charts.

Without that rigour, organisations change the wrong inputs, treat normal variation as a crisis and watch improvements slip back. This programme gives engineers, quality staff and improvement specialists the statistical toolkit of DMAIC, to the Evaluate cognitive level, leading to the IASSC Certified Green Belt (ICGB) designation.

What you will be able to do

  • Translate Voice of the Customer into CTQ requirements and build a project charter with a business case
  • Map the process with SIPOC, value stream maps and FMEA, and run measurement system analyses
  • Calculate and interpret process capability indices
  • Select and run hypothesis tests, from t-tests and ANOVA to chi-squared, to locate sources of variation
  • Fit simple and multiple regression models to predict process outputs
  • Hold the gains with control charts, Lean controls and a control plan for handover

Course outline: 5 modules

Each module below shows what it covers and what you will be able to do at the end of it.

1. Define Phase

Covers Six Sigma and Lean fundamentals, customer requirements, key metrics, project selection and the business case.

  • Translate Voice of the Customer into Critical to Quality requirements
  • Calculate DPU, DPMO, FTY and RTY for a process
  • Build a project charter with a business case and financial benefits
  • Identify the seven wastes and plan a 5S deployment

2. Measure Phase

Covers process definition tools, descriptive statistics, measurement system analysis and process capability studies.

  • Use SIPOC, value stream maps, X-Y diagrams and FMEA
  • Test data for normality and analyse it graphically
  • Run variable and attribute measurement system analyses
  • Calculate and interpret process capability indices

3. Analyse Phase

Covers patterns of variation, inferential statistics and hypothesis testing with normal and non-normal data.

  • Use multi-vari analysis to locate sources of variation
  • Explain sampling and the Central Limit Theorem
  • Select and run hypothesis tests for normal data such as t-tests and ANOVA
  • Apply non-parametric and chi-squared tests to non-normal data

4. Improve Phase

Covers simple and multiple regression to quantify relationships between inputs and outputs and guide improvements.

  • Measure correlation and fit a simple linear regression model
  • Analyse residuals to check model adequacy
  • Build multiple regression models to predict process outputs

5. Control Phase

Covers Lean controls, statistical process control and control plans to sustain improved performance.

  • Apply Kanban, poka-yoke and 5S controls
  • Select and interpret control charts for variable and attribute data
  • Prepare a control plan and response plan for handover
